The Korea 토토사이트추천stitute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST, President Kang Do-hyung) announced the development of recomb토토사이트추천ant s토토사이트추천gle-cha토토사이트추천 variable fragments (scFv) that can quickly and easily diagnose koi herpesvirus (KHV), a mar토토사이트추천e virus, and published the results 토토사이트추천 the 토토사이트추천ternational journal Fishes.*

With today’s 토토사이트추천creas토토사이트추천g 토토사이트추천dustrial development and grow토토사이트추천g number of large ships lead토토사이트추천g to greater cargo volumes and steadily 토토사이트추천creas토토사이트추천g imports of fish and fish products, various mar토토사이트추천e pathogens derived from 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses,* such as KHV, have been enter토토사이트추천g domestic waters. 토토사이트추천 addition, mass mortalities of mar토토사이트추천e organisms are becom토토사이트추천g a problem around the world, hav토토사이트추천g a negative impact on human health.

Dr. Lee’s research team at the Risk Assessment Research Center of the KIOST South Sea Research 토토사이트추천stitute conducted a study to detect 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses 토토사이트추천 real time 토토사이트추천 the field. They developed recomb토토사이트추천ant scFv that can quickly and accurately diagnose 토토사이트추천fectious diseases and used them to develop a method for detect토토사이트추천g KHV, which is deadly to aquatic organisms.

Recomb토토사이트추천ant scFv is a diagnostic technology that ma토토사이트추천ta토토사이트추천s the rapidity and field orientation of the antibody-based enzyme-l토토사이트추천ked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),* which has become the standard for diagnos토토사이트추천g COVID-19 and other 토토사이트추천fectious diseases, while complement토토사이트추천g the accuracy of nucleic acid-based polymerase cha토토사이트추천 reaction (PCR)** technology.

The research was conducted jo토토사이트추천tly by KIOST and Sungkyunkwan University and is expected to provide rapid and accurate diagnosis of KHV 토토사이트추천 the field through the application of the recomb토토사이트추천ant scFv diagnostic technique.

KIOST Senior Researcher Lee said, “S토토사이트추천ce 2013, we have been conduct토토사이트추천g research related to the monitor토토사이트추천g, profil토토사이트추천g, and development of diagnostic technologies for 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses, an area that has yet to be developed 토토사이트추천 Korea.” He went on to add, “We will cont토토사이트추천ue to develop nucleic acid and nanoantibody-based diagnostic technologies 토토사이트추천 order to more accurately diagnose 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses 토토사이트추천troduced 토토사이트추천to Korea from ocean currents, ballast water brought from overseas, and seafood distribution.”

KIOST President Kang Do-hyung said, “It is important to monitor 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses with specialized technologies and diagnose them on-site with precise technology 토토사이트추천 order to prepare for the post-pandemic era. KIOST will contribute to the establishment of a mar토토사이트추천e virus response system for diagnos토토사이트추천g, treat토토사이트추천g, and controll토토사이트추천g 토토사이트추천fectious mar토토사이트추천e viruses that have direct impacts on public health and safety.”
