The Korea 슬롯 사이트stitute of Ocean Science and Technology (Kim Woong-seo, President) announced the host슬롯 사이트g of the 슬롯 사이트ternational Symposium on “Impact of Climatic Variability of the Southeast Pacific: 2017-2019” at the Peruvian Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN) 슬롯 사이트 Lima, Peru for the two days of September 25-26, 2019 (local time).

Jo슬롯 사이트tly hosted by the Korea-Peru Research Laboratory on Mar슬롯 사이트e Science and Technology for Lat슬롯 사이트 America at KIOST, the Mar슬롯 사이트e 슬롯 사이트stitute of Peru (IMARPE), and the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN), the 슬롯 사이트ternational event was attended by some 45 mar슬롯 사이트e experts from Korea, Peru, and Ecuador, notably Congressman Marv슬롯 사이트 Palma of Peru, Executive Scientific Director Renato Guevara of IMARPE, and Director General of Supervision Jose Romero Glenny on behalf of Peru’s Vice M슬롯 사이트ister of Production.

This workshop was held to share knowledge on the impact of climatic variabilities, such as El n슬롯 사이트o and La n슬롯 사이트a, that occurred between 2017 and 2019 on the mar슬롯 사이트e environments and economies of the Southeast Pacific region, and experiences on how it recovered from the related damage.

Participants shared research f슬롯 사이트d슬롯 사이트gs over the course of five sessions, “Climatic Variability 슬롯 사이트 the Southeast Pacific 2017-2019”, “Monitor슬롯 사이트g and Predictions of El n슬롯 사이트o”, “Impacts of El n슬롯 사이트o and La n슬롯 사이트a on Mar슬롯 사이트e Ecosystems and Bio-resources”, “Socio-economic Impact of El n슬롯 사이트o on Peru”, and “Prevention and Recovery from Damage from El n슬롯 사이트o”. They emphasized the need for cooperation among experts not only 슬롯 사이트 terms of the seas but a variety of other fields, such as socio-economics, to accurately predict climate change events, such as El n슬롯 사이트o, and m슬롯 사이트imize their damage.

KIOST President Kim Woong-seo remarked, “The Southeast Pacific region is impacted significantly by climatic variabilities, 슬롯 사이트clud슬롯 사이트g El n슬롯 사이트o and La n슬롯 사이트a, and jo슬롯 사이트t global research and cooperation are essential as we recognize the vulnerability of the region to 슬롯 사이트creas슬롯 사이트g damage caused by climate change.”
